Meet Ashley | The Heart Behind
MI Doxie Co. ❤️
Hello, and welcome! My name is Ashley, and I am the proud owner of MI Doxie Co. and Executive Director of SISSA’S FOUNDATION, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to raising, training, and donating service, therapy, and facility dogs.
I am an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator, a BAB Certified Puppy Temperament Evaluator, and a Certified Service Dog Trainer. Above all, I am someone who wholeheartedly believes in the extraordinary impact a dog can have on a person’s life.
My journey began 20 years ago with a passion for raising healthy, loving, well-rounded family companions. However, after losing my sister to Type 1 diabetes, that passion grew into something much deeper. We had always dreamed of training her dog to become a service dog, but at the time, we simply didn’t have the knowledge or resources to make that dream a reality.
Her passing forever changed my purpose.
I knew firsthand the unconditional love, comfort, and companionship a dog could provide. I truly believe dogs are so much more than pets. They are heart healers, loyal companions, best friends, and sometimes even lifesavers. I wanted to help give other families something we had wished so deeply for, and that desire became the foundation of the work I do today.
Through MI Doxie Co . and SISSA’S FOUNDATION, I have been able to combine my love for breeding exceptional dogs with my passion for helping others.
Raised With Love, Purpose & Intention
Our breeding program is truly a family affair! Alongside my husband, Brent our four children, Chance , Aiden , Cullen , Quinn and my mom, Becky , we dedicate countless hours to raising and nurturing every puppy born into our home.
Our puppies are not raised in a traditional kennel environment. They are born and raised right inside our home, surrounded by the everyday sights, sounds, experiences, and love of family life.
It truly takes a village, and I am incredibly grateful for mine!
From the moment our puppies enter the world, they are considered part of our family. That commitment doesn’t end when they leave for their forever homes. We take pride in building lifelong relationships with our puppy families and being a source of support throughout their dogs’ lives.
The Science & Heart Behind Our Program
We believe that exceptional puppies are not simply born — they are intentionally raised.
I am deeply committed to continuing my education, researching advancements in canine health, genetics, behavior, and development, and constantly refining our breeding and puppy-raising practices.
Beginning at just three days old, our puppies are introduced to Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) as part of our structured developmental program.
We follow a carefully tailored curriculum that combines principles from the Empowered Breeder’s service dog curriculum and Puppy Culture, incorporating intentional handling, age-appropriate challenges, confidence-building exercises, problem-solving opportunities, and positive exposure to new experiences.
Our goal is never to overwhelm our puppies, but rather to gently empower them as they grow.
Every experience is thoughtfully introduced to help develop puppies who are confident, adaptable, emotionally resilient, and prepared for life beyond our home.
Whether a puppy is destined to become a beloved family companion, a therapy dog, a facility dog, or a future service dog prospect, we believe the foundation established during those first eight weeks is incredibly important.
Our Commitment to Exceptional Dogs
We strive to produce beautiful, healthy, intelligent Miniature Dachshunds.
Our breeding decisions are made with careful consideration for health, temperament, structure, and the overall well-being of future generations.
While beautiful dogs are certainly something we appreciate, temperament, health, and quality of life will always be at the heart of our program.
We don’t simply want to raise puppies.
We want to raise dogs who enrich lives, bring families together, offer comfort during difficult moments, and become irreplaceable members of the homes they join.
More Than Just a Puppy ❤️
When you welcome one of our puppies into your family, you are welcoming a little piece of ours.
Every puppy represents countless hours of love, dedication, education, and intentional care. Behind each one is a family that has poured its heart into giving that puppy the very best beginning possible.
My sister’s memory continues to inspire so much of what I do, and I am incredibly grateful that something born from such profound loss has grown into a mission centered around love, hope, healing, and the remarkable bond between humans and dogs.
Because to us, they have never been “just dogs.” They are family. They are healers. They are life changers.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about our family, our passion, and the heart behind Halsey Poodles and Doodles.
With love and gratitude,
Ashley,
Owner , MI Doxie Co.
